Inform Alberta

The Inform Alberta website  offers a searchable database of health, social, government, and community services across the province. It is searchable by region, postal code or type of service. A search for “Services for Immigrant Children and Youth” yields dozens of results in the areas of recreation, health care, after school care and clubs, language classes, career counselling, etc.

Immigrant Children, Youth and Family Program Guide

This section of the Inform Alberta site was compiled by the CARE Strategy in Calgary. While it is not known whether such a directory in available for other regions, this site does show the array of services available, and does provide some contacts which may have parallel services in other parts of Alberta.

Alberta Human Services, Settlement Services Directory

This site links to information about the immigrant-serving agencies that offer general settlement assistance, including information, orientation, interpretation/translation, or referral services.

AAISA logo imageThe Alberta Association for Immigrant Serving Agencies

The AAISA is an umbrella organization for 19 member settlement and integration agencies serving 8 municipalities. Links to the 19 agencies are provided. Settlement/integration services are front line services delivered specifically to immigrants and refugees in: Reception and Orientation, Information and Referral, Translation and Interpretation, Counselling and Advocacy, Educational Services, Community Development, Employment and Career Services. 

Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada

The mission of all Boys and Girls Clubs in Canada is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. This page provides a searchable list of programs.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

This volunteer mentorship program also provides in-school mentors. This website lists the Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations throughout Alberta.

Parent Link Centre

Parents are able to access information about community services, obtain referrals, and meet other parents, children, and families, while taking part in early learning activities. This site has links to early childhood services in Brooks, Medicine Hat and other rural communities.
